You're on the ground floor
This is a trial run. Nobody has played this format before — including me. You're testing it, not just playing it.
What's traditional
- The scoring. Full PPR with yardage bonuses. If you have played fantasy football you already know what a good week looks like.
- Head to head. One opponent a week. You win or you lose, and the standings are a record, not a points race.
- A salary cap. $1,000, nine spots, and the good players cost what they are worth.
What isn't
- Season-long tracking on a daily roster. Cap games throw the roster away every week and keep no standings. Season leagues keep the standings but chain you to whoever you drafted in August. This is both, and nobody else runs it.
- Team Backfield. The ninth spot buys a franchise's whole running back room instead of one man.
- Lineup insurance. $125 a week out of a $500 season bank, covering you when a starter gets ruled out.
- Home field advantage. Five points on the board before kickoff when you host a division rival.
Three things to read before you pick anybody
Team Backfield. The ninth spot doesn't buy a running back — it buys a team's whole backfield. Every carry and every catch by every back on that roster, added up. Lead guy blows a knee on the first drive and the backup's yards are already yours. Injuries cannot touch that spot.
Insurance. $125 a week out of a $500 season bank — not your weekly cap, and not real money. If a starter gets ruled out, his spot turns into that team's whole position group for the game, and one other spot flips to that team's best guy. It's automatic, there's nothing to claim. Buy it before the week's first kickoff.
Home field. Five of your six regular-season games are against your own division, and in those you are either hosting or on the road. The host starts with five points already on the board — enough to swing a close one, not enough to save a bad lineup. Your cross-division week and every playoff game are neutral.

New board goes up Tuesday night and covers that week's slate of games. Salaries are adjusted every week. Everybody gets the same grand, nothing rolls over — spend it or waste it.
Nine spots and you can't afford nine studs — the nine priciest guys on this week's board come to $1,335. You're going cheap somewhere. Figuring out where is the whole game.

No kickers. No defense. They're not on the board at all.
Thursday night through Monday night all counts. A Thursday guy is worth exactly what a Sunday guy is worth.
Every row shows the matchup and the line from your guy's side — vs. MIA -3.5 is home against Miami, laying 3.5 — plus the forecast. Tap the icon for wind and temperature.

Bonuses are per guy, not per spot. Three backs splitting 120 yards gets you nothing.
BACKFLD Team Backfield
Your ninth spot. You're not buying a running back. You're buying the whole room.
Every carry, every catch, every back on that roster, added up. Lead guy goes down on the first drive? The backup's yards are already yours. Injuries can't touch this spot.
Price is that team's backs added together, times 0.40. Nobody wants a three-man committee — which is exactly why it's usually the best deal on the board. You get all three.
Insurance
$125 a week, covers all nine spots. It comes out of a $500 season bank — not your cap, and not real money. Four weeks' worth. When it's gone, it's gone.
A starter gets ruled out, two things happen on that guy's team. Automatically:

Nothing to file. No deadline. It just happens. Two guys hurt, you get whichever claim is worth more.
Buy it before the first kickoff of the week. No watching Thursday and then buying cover on Friday.
Stacked two Bengals and Chase goes down? The other guy's already inside the group, so his spot reads zero. You didn't lose him — he's in there. Stacking and insurance just don't mix.
Your spots lock one at a time
There's no Sunday deadline. Each spot locks when that guy kicks off. Your Thursday quarterback is done Thursday night. Your Monday flex is still open after you've watched everybody else's Sunday.
That's on purpose. Waiting buys you information — you know exactly what you need. It also costs you: you're sitting on cap you didn't spend, and Monday's board is thin.
No lineup at all by the last kickoff? You lose the game and the bank eats $125.
The injury report
It doesn't drift. Moves early in the week, freezes 24 hours out, then one last update 90 minutes before kickoff — that's the inactives. Then it's locked. Every team on its own clock, so a Thursday team is final while the Sunday teams are still early.
If it updated live, whoever hit refresh at the right second would see a downgrade nobody else had. That designation decides whether you can start a guy and whether he can trigger a claim, so it gets a schedule.
Standings and playoffs
Head to head, one game a week. Two divisions: the Dirty Birds and the Dirty Sanchez. You are put in one when you claim your spot.
Tiebreakers in order: record, points for, head-to-head, all-play.
All-play is your score against everybody that week, not just the guy you drew. This format is streaky enough that you can play great and sit at 1–3. All-play tells you the truth.
Top four each side make it, crossed over - the top seed in one division draws the fourth seed in the other, and so on — so the two division winners can only meet in the final. Three rounds, single elimination. Lose once and you're out.

0 · Name the divisions
Two divisions, split by signup order. Renaming moves everybody across with the name — nobody is orphaned in an old division.
0 · Draw the matchups
Everybody plays all five rivals in his own division, then one game across the divide, drawn at random. Home field rides on the division games only. Drawing also closes signup, because a manager who joins afterwards would have no games.
0 · The roster
Signup is open to the first 12. You are exempt: you can add somebody past the cap, and reopen signup if a spot frees up.
1 · Refresh rosters
Pulls all 32 team rosters from ESPN. Positions live here, and the Team Backfield slot cannot be scored without them. Run before the first board of the week.
2 · Post the week's board
Upload the week's salary CSV (Position, Name, Salary, TeamAbbrev). A league week is every game — Thursday through Monday, Wednesday in a holiday week. One main-slate file only covers Sunday afternoon, so uploads add to the board: post the Thursday and Monday files too. Any team playing with nobody priced is listed after upload.
3 · Run the week
You do not normally lock anything: slots lock themselves at each player's kickoff. Lock lineups is an emergency freeze that stops all edits at once.
4 · Draw the bracket
Once the regular season is scored, draw the quarter-final. Draw each later round after the one before it is final — the winners pair automatically.
